Counting Calories Doesn't Work.

 

I know you've done it, haven't we all? You might be in the cycle right now! You want to lose weight, feel better, "get fit." So you restrict. You cut out dessert. You limit fat. You don't eat bacon. You count macros, go keto, or implement one of the multitude of fad diets out there. 

And you fail. You fail to get the result you want. Or you get the result. And then a few months later, you're back to where you started.

 

When you think of restricting, diet, or calorie counting. What comes to mind? For me, I think "YUCK!" And then my mind would race to all the wonderful foods that I love, that I wouldn't be able to have!

Thats the problem with counting calories and diets. They are not fun. they are not pleasant. When something isn't enjoyable, it's not sustainable. When you have to limit yourself so much, every single day, one day you just can't do it anymore!

 

The key to weight loss is finding

what is sustainable. Not fad diets. 

 

I think I dieted briefly in college. Maybe for 5 months. I ate as little as possible. Reflecting back on it now you know what is so insane? Now that I eat clean and follow my Eat Smart System I probably eat 3 times as many calories as I did back then and am the same weight I was when I was restricting so heavily!

How can this be?

There are many reasons.

1. When you deprive your body, it wants to hold onto fat, and your metabolism decreases.

2. I wasn't eating clean food, which decreases your body's ability to work efficiently.

Remember, if you're calorie counting, and cutting out foods, you are focusing on the wrong things.

 

If you want sustainable health you have to change how you look at food.

Calorie counting won't do it

Cutting fat won't do it.

Cutting dessert won't do it.

What will?

A sustainable way of eating and thinking about food that doesn't require you to cut out your favorite foods.
