The Downside of Fruit Juice.
I wish I knew this years ago.
Drink orange juice, it’s full of vitamin C and will give you the boost you need to get going in the morning.
This was what I lived by for a majority of my life!
I also lived with fatigue, and crashing energy throughout my day.
Are the two connected?
Absolutely.
Let me give you a brief understanding of sugar and how the body absorbs it.
Sugar, when paired with fiber (such as the fiber from the flesh and skin of fruit) will bind with the fiber and will move slowly through the digestive system. And the sugar will slowly be released into the blood stream.
Sugar, when removed from fiber, in this case, sugar from the juice in oranges, and fiber being the flesh of the orange, gets absorbed into the blood stream rapidly.
This rapid absorption into the blood stream makes you have a blood sugar spike!
This blood sugar spike will leave you to crash soon after. This could be felt by way of fatigue, weakness, “afternoon crash” and even headaches.
But it’s orange juice, it has to be healthy!
Remember this! SUGAR IS SUGAR.
Sugar as in cane sugar, or sugar as in fruit sugar, for the most part, it will cause a spike and crash.
This does not mean you should opt for a candy bar with added sugar, over orange juice (LOL) nice try.
